This church is a branch church of The First Church of Christ, Scientist , in Boston, Massachusetts, which was founded in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy.

Reading Room


   The Reading Room is an oasis in the historic La Mesa Village.


In the Reading Room you will find prayerful solutions to everyday problems, including health concerns.


You may ask questions about Christian Science and find practical tools to help you on your spiritual journey.


If you just need a quiet area to study the Bible and commune with God, the Reading Room is for you.


It is a storehouse of spiritual nourishment to feed, heal, and sustain the hungry heart.


Everyone, regardless of religious affiliation, is welcome to visit, study, and pray,at the Reading

This week our Lesson-Sermon, comprised of selections from The Holy Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, is "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?"

-Latest News/Events:     1) Re-opening Announcement!
                                                 It is with great joy and gratitude that we announce that our
                                                 church and the Sunday School have re-opened for all services. 
                                                 All attendees of both the Church services and Sunday School are
                                                 lovingly reminded to wear a mask and to sit at least 6 feet apart
                                                unless you are of the same household. Also, at this time, we are
                                                still not allowed to sing the hymns. HOWEVER, we can pray the
                                                Lord's Prayer and read the Responsive Reading aloud, and for the
                                                hymns, we can stand as usual and follow along silently as our
                                                soloist sings for both Sunday and Wednesday services.
                                                 Please note that all our services will  continue to be offered by
                                                 phone and internet for those who truly find it impossible to
                                                attend in person. Also, the Sunday School classes will continue on
                                                the internet through Zoom for those who are unable to enjoy
                                                their class.
                                                                     We look forward to seeing you all.

                                                  "The Christmas Story in Word and Song" presented by phone on
                                                   Sunday, 12/20/20.  Simply click the "Services" page and scroll

                                                  Starting April 13, 2021, the Reading Room will be open new hours;
                                                  Tuesdays 11-5, Fridays 11-6, Saturdays 11-5, Sundays, 11-2.                                               
                                                  Masks and social distancing will be required.

                                                   phone and on the internet on the first Sunday of each month,
                                                   immediately following the Church service.  Simply stay on the phone

                                                 Table Pizza is a few stores away from the Von's grocery store. The

                                                 wonderful opportunity to get to know each other. Bring your friends
